AGOSTO PERMANECEREMOS CERRADOS
El Ateneo de Málaga presenta el viernes 12 de septiembre a las 19:30 horas, en La Antesala del Ateneo de Málaga, la exposición «QUIMERAS Y MITOS. Grabados y esculturas” de la artista Esperanza Romero.
La muestra podrá visitarse hasta el 31 de octubre de 2025.
Esperanza Romero es una artista con una larga e interesante trayectoria desde que dejó el prestigioso Royal College of Art de Londres hace más de 45 años. Su espíritu inquieto e indagador la ha llevado a trabajar en diversos campos artísticos, y su amor por los viajes y las diferentes culturas le ha permitido vivir y trabajar en muchas partes del mundo, aunque ahora tiene su sede en Granada.
Con el paso del tiempo su obra ha evolucionado a través de diferentes etapas, pero siempre ha estado definida por un carácter onírico pero desafiante.
Es una artista multidisciplinar que trabaja principalmente con pintura, escultura cerámica y grabado pero también ha colaborado en proyectos audiovisuales para T.V. y documentales y ha creado escenografías para producciones internacionales.
En esta exposición sus trabajos escultóricos, realizados en arcillas refractarias, están bruñidos y acabados principalmente con terrasigilata y posteriormente terminados con varias técnicas de ahumado, que les aportan un aspecto petreo.
Los linograbados de gran formato expuestos, forman parte de una serie inspirada en la mitologia grecoromana , así como otros de menor formato dedicados a la figura femenina.
La Antesala del Ateneo presents the exhibition «CHIMERAS AND MYTHS. Engravings and Sculptures» by artist Esperanza Romero. The opening will be on September 12 at 7:30 p.m. The exhibition will be open until October 31, 2025.
Esperanza Romero is an artist with a long and interesting career since leaving the prestigious Royal College of Art in London more than 45 years ago. Her restless and inquisitive spirit has led her to work in various artistic fields, and her love of travel and different cultures has allowed her to live and work in many parts of the world, although she is now based in Granada.
Over time, her work has evolved through different stages, but it has always been defined by a dreamlike yet challenging character.
She is a multidisciplinary artist who works primarily with painting, ceramic sculpture, and printmaking, but has also collaborated on audiovisual projects for TV and documentaries and has created sets for international productions.
In this exhibition, her sculptural works, made from refractory clays, are burnished and finished mainly with terra sigilata and subsequently exposed to various smoking techniques, which give them a marbled appearance.
The large-format linocuts on display are part of a series inspired by Greco-Roman mythology, as well as smaller prints dedicated to the female figure.
